Yarn Crawl 2023
Yarn Crawl's theme this year celebrates the anniversary of the Chicago Public Library. In honor of this, we have created kits that come in a project bag featuring original artwork in a book theme. Kits contain our very own hand-dyed silk/alpaca yarn with pattern all inside a project bag. Choose from a two-skein bag including the Sophie pattern or a three-skein bag including the Airy Breeze pattern. Visit our New in the Shop page for details!
Join Us for Our Summer KAL!
Elgin Knit Works 10 Douglas Avenue, Elgin, IL, United StatesThis KAL will go through August. Join us on Fridays and/or Sundays or knit on your own at home. EKW's Knit-a-longs come with all the help you need to complete any of these great summer knits. When you participate you will receive assistance on: color choice, gauge, fitting. All the sweaters can be customized in length of sleeve and body. This is a great opportunity if you have wanted to make a sweater but have been nervous to do it on your own. Knitters just have to purchase the designated yarn and we will help you all the way. This KAL will go through August and participants can choose to join us when convenient. Stop in soon for the best selection of colors.
Fall KAL: Meseta Cardigan
Elgin Knit Works 10 Douglas Avenue, Elgin, IL, United StatesJoin us on Friday mornings & Sundays for our Fall KAL. We will be knitting the Meseta Cardigan.
This classic sweater is knitted top-down in a traditional raglan style, the charted lace pattern makes it a truly elegant pattern.
Here is how it works if you have never participated in our KALs: We choose the pattern and the yarn and provide all the help you need to complete the project. We will help you make sure the cardigan fits you.
No need to sign up, just stop in and select your yarn and we will help get you started.
Malabrigo Holiday KAL
Elgin Knit Works 10 Douglas Avenue, Elgin, IL, United StatesFor our next KAL we have decided to shake things up a bit. Knitters who would like to continue to work on their KAL sweaters are welcome to continue. For those knitters who switch to gift knitting (or just accessory knitting) can participate in our Malabrigo Holiday KAL. Knitters can join us during November & December on Sunday afternoons from 1:30-4. HOW DOES IT WORK?
You can choose from any of the Malabrigo yarns in the shop. A ticket will be issued for each skein purchased. When the project is completed, bring the ticket in and you will recieve 10% off on your next skein of Malabrigo yarn and the tickets will be entered into a drawing that we will have during our post-holiday party.

Tolsta Tee-Summer KAL
Elgin Knit Works 10 Douglas Avenue, Elgin, IL, United StatesThe Tolsta Tee is a perfect basic raglan t-shirt that can be the canvas for all of your creative ideas. The pattern includes the instructions for the tee, plus an extra document with resources on how to customize the Tolsta to your liking. Will you make solid, multi or stripes? With eyelets or embroidery? Knitters have at least 8 different yarns to choose from each with endless amounts of colors.
Here is how it works. We choose the pattern and designate the yarn then provide all the help you need to complete the project.
Join us Fridays and/or Sundays from 10:00 - 1:00 starting on May 31. No need to sign up, just stop in and select your yarn and we will help get you started.
