Elgin Knit Works will be closed from 2:00pm on Sunday, June 30th through Thursday, July 4th for the Independence Holiday.

We are excited to announce our next KAL, which kicks off on April 16th. The Elmgrove is a great transitional cardigan that will take you through spring and into summer. KAL knitters who purchase the yarn & pattern from us will have all the help they need to complete the project. Our knit-alongs usually last about 2 months so you will have plenty of time to complete this project. Join us on Sundays from 10-1:00 to meet other knitters, get help and knit.
Nina will be at Elgin Knit Works Friday, July 21 from 6 to 8pm and on Saturday, July 22 from 1 to 4 pm for the Just Nina Knits Trunk Show. Be sure to stop by!
Yarn Crawl's theme this year celebrates the anniversary of the Chicago Public Library. In honor of this, we have created kits that come in a project bag featuring original artwork in a book theme. Kits contain our very own hand-dyed silk/alpaca yarn with pattern all inside a project bag. Choose from a two-skein bag including the Sophie pattern or a three-skein bag including the Airy Breeze pattern. Visit our New in the Shop page for details!
This KAL will go through August. Join us on Fridays and/or Sundays or knit on your own at home. EKW's Knit-a-longs come with all the help you need to complete any of these great summer knits. When you participate you will receive assistance on: color choice, gauge, fitting. All the sweaters can be customized in length of sleeve and body. This is a great opportunity if you have wanted to make a sweater but have been nervous to do it on your own. Knitters just have to purchase the designated yarn and we will help you all the way. This KAL will go through August and participants can choose to join us when convenient. Stop in soon for the best selection of colors.

This classic sweater is knitted top-down in a traditional raglan style, the charted lace pattern makes it a truly elegant pattern.
Here is how it works if you have never participated in our KALs: We choose the pattern and the yarn and provide all the help you need to complete the project. We will help you make sure the cardigan fits you.
No need to sign up, just stop in and select your yarn and we will help get you started.
For our next KAL we have decided to shake things up a bit. Knitters who would like to continue to work on their KAL sweaters are welcome to continue. For those knitters who switch to gift knitting (or just accessory knitting) can participate in our Malabrigo Holiday KAL. Knitters can join us during November & December on Sunday afternoons from 1:30-4. HOW DOES IT WORK?
You can choose from any of the Malabrigo yarns in the shop. A ticket will be issued for each skein purchased. When the project is completed, bring the ticket in and you will recieve 10% off on your next skein of Malabrigo yarn and the tickets will be entered into a drawing that we will have during our post-holiday party.
Wednesday, June 19 the, 5:00-7:00pm. Join us for a fun evening to celebrate hand knit/crochet chickens! Bring your chicken and show her off. (chicken not required to join us for the evening) There will be prizes, discounts & fun.
The Tolsta Tee is a perfect basic raglan t-shirt that can be the canvas for all of your creative ideas. The pattern includes the instructions for the tee, plus an extra document with resources on how to customize the Tolsta to your liking. Will you make solid, multi or stripes? With eyelets or embroidery? Knitters have at least 8 different yarns to choose from each with endless amounts of colors.
Here is how it works. We choose the pattern and designate the yarn then provide all the help you need to complete the project.
